Who runs the RMU Forum?
The R.M.U WA POL Forum, is not run by the
W.A. Police Department, or the W.A.
Police Union, but by a group of Retired
Medically Unfit,(RMU) ex WA Police
Officers, who saw a need to reach out to
other Retired Medically Unfit Officers,
who may be in the same or a worse
situation than themselves, through no
fault of their own. We all knew the problem was going to be pretty bad,
but so far we have all been wrong.......It is a lot
worse.
What is the main purpose of the RMU Forum?
A lot of RMU's presently feel alone, isolated, betrayed and abandoned. So firstly, the forum is being used as a think tank to work out how we can reach out to each other. Once the RMU's regroup, we will use the forum to discuss and understand our past. Hopefully the forum will then help us to move forward together, to create a better future for us all.
The Forum has also been made, with future RMU's in mind. In the past the retirement process has been very unfriendly to a lot of our members. We hope that in the future, when a hurt or injured WA Police Officer is advised they are going to be medically retired, they will be able to join our forum and meet up & talk to other Officers who have already been down that path.
Despite the political problems at the moment, we are moving forward, building the social, sporting & recreational aspects of the forum. In time we would like to think that if a seriously hurt/ill RMU was confined to home or a hospital bed, they could be given access to a computer and know they still have friends .... no matter what.
The forum could also help sick & injured serving Police Officers that unfortunately, have to face the sad reality, that they may never put the blue uniform back on again. We plan to create an environment for those officers and give them something positive to look forward to.
Sadly, many RMU WA Police find it hard to get over how very badly they were treated in the past. Many feel that their problems are being ignored like it is not important or doesn't exist. Quite a few have a strong ambition to "Seek Justice". The forum may also be used as a tool to help do that. The shame needs to be returned to where it belongs, back with the WA Government and the WA Police Department.
